Title of Session: What is SU-PSEA and What does it offer me?
At the start of the meeting folders were given out to newcomers. The folders contain information about PSEA. Also in two of the folders given out were slips of paper with numbers on them. The people who received the slips got to pick out a prize with the PSEA logo on it.
Brittany, the president of SU-PSEA, introduced each of the officers. She mentioned that two executive positions, Treasurer and PACE, were open if anyone was interested in joining the leadership. She displayed the semester schedule, and briefly went over some of it.
Brittany then discussed what the organizations SPSEA and PSEA are. Afterwards we had everyone look under their chairs, for two of them had numbers on them. The people who found the numbers received a prize with the PSEA logon on it.
After prizes, everyone is attendance introduced themselves. It was nice to get to know each other a little bit.
We then discussed the information contained in the folders, and what NEA is. As a part of NEA we can help advocate for public schools to support teachers, so that when we are educators we can be the best teachers we can be.
Brittany then described all the benefits of becoming a member of PSEA. We asked if there were any questions, and explained that if anyone had questions in the future the officers would be available to answer them.
We welcomed everyone back for the next meeting on September 19th, 2016.
